A custom shirt design has to work on fabric at a real physical size. Artwork that looks good as a tiny profile image may not contain enough detail for a larger chest print. Preparing the source file early gives you more time to solve problems without delaying the order.

Find the best source you have

Look for the original logo or design file rather than copying an image from a website. If a designer created the artwork, ask for the version intended for production. A screenshot can include a low-resolution image, an unwanted background, and screen artifacts all at once.

Do not remove backgrounds or convert everything to a different file format just because an online checklist says to. Ask which file types, background treatment, and artwork specifications fit the shop's process. Keep an untouched original so revisions can be made without repeatedly editing an already compressed copy.

Specify dimensions and placement

Describe where the print belongs and how wide or tall you expect it to be. “Centered on the front, approximately this wide” starts a more useful conversation than “normal size.” If you are ordering several garment styles or sizes, ask whether the same layout suits all of them.

Review fine lines, small lettering, and intentional background areas. A design can lose its meaning if a delicate caption becomes unreadable. Simplifying a secondary detail may improve the finished shirt more than making the entire design larger.

Approve the complete combination

Evaluate the artwork against the actual garment color. Confirm whether a rectangle around the artwork is intentional or simply part of the supplied file. Ask about the available print method, fabric compatibility, and care instructions; different production choices can require different preparation.
